We are writing to confirm that Better World Books will use the BWB Fund to ship books to Panyijiar, Southern Sudan for the PACODES March 2009 deadline. Better World Books will provide the 25,000 books for the library with their inventory.
Better World Books will front the money for the shipment of books through Books for Africa to arrive in Sudan for the March deadline, estimated cost of shipment is ~$15,000. Better World Books will withhold client commission and per unit payment up to 50% of the shipment cost ~$7,500.
Walk Sudan’s client commission will be used to cover client’s percentage of shipping cost. Once their balance of ~$7,500 is paid off they will receive commission for the sale of the Newberry Library books or other books brought in on behalf of Walk Sudan.
For Spring 2008 the following commission/per unit deal has been approved.
Illinois Central College: all books received by July 31st will receive 75 cents per accepted book, this money will be withheld by Better World Books to pay for 50% of the shipment.
Newberry Library: 12.5% client commission to Walk Sudan and 7.5% to Books for Africa. The client’s commission of 12.5% will be withheld by Better World Books to pay for 50% of the shipment.
Walk Sudan will continue to send books to Better World Books through the Fall 2008 school year to help pay for the 50% balance. There is no deadline to pay off the 50% balance. Commission paid to Walk Sudan will be determined on a case by case basis.
Better World Books will provide 25,000 books for a sea container shipped to Panyijiar. Walk Sudan, Endless Eye and PACODES will need to provide Better World Books with types of books the library would like to receive. Books for Africa may be able to help in this process.
We look forward to working with Walk Sudan, Endless Eye and PACODES to fill the library in Panyijiar, Southern Sudan.
