EAST PEORIA -- An Illinois Central College student is trying to make a difference in the African country of Sudan.
Matt Hoffman and the Phi Theta Kappa honor society hope to build a library in a region torn by civil war.
Volunteers have already helped collect over 50,000 books from around the country, some even donated by ICC.
There's even a walk coming up in May to raise money for the library's construction.
"Sometimes we get up in our own lives and if things aren't convenient its difficult to get involved. (The walk) is a very simple event and I've kind of just watched the enthusiasm that people have had. It's taken off like a powdered keg and I think people are relishing in the opportunity to get involved in something bigger than themselves," said Hoffman.
The fundraiser walk is scheduled for May 24th.
